How to remove stains from your towels
7th Oct 2024
When it comes to keeping your towels fresh and stain-free, acting fast is key.
Whether it’s a makeup smudge or post-gym sweat stains, quick action makes all the difference. But don’t worry if stains have already set in - this guide will walk you through easy, effective methods to get your towels looking as good as new, with no stress involved.
Makeup Mishaps
Even when you're careful, makeup has a sneaky way of ending up on your towels. Whether it’s foundation, mascara, or sparkly eyeshadow, you don’t need to panic. Start by soaking the stain in cold water and applying half a teaspoon of dish soap. Gently scrub the area using an old (but clean) toothbrush, then toss it into the wash.
For best results, we recommend using our Signature Laundry Liquid, designed to be tough on stains but gentle on fabric.

Toothpaste Trouble
Toothpaste stains can sometimes look like bleach marks, but they’re easy to tackle. First, carefully scrape off any excess toothpaste without rubbing it in further. Next, rub a lemon on the stain and sprinkle baking soda over the area. Let it sit for a few minutes, then wash the towel as normal.
Sweat Stains from the Gym
Sweat stains don’t just leave your towels smelly - they can also leave unwanted marks. To keep your towels fresh and new-looking, presoak them in half a cup of white vinegar. When you’re ready to wash, throw in a bit of bicarbonate soda for extra freshness. These quick steps will ensure your gym towels stay in top shape.

Blood Stains
Accidents happen, whether it’s a small cut or nick from shaving, or you’ve grabbed the nearest towel to staunch a more serious injury. If blood gets on your towel, the key is to act fast. Soak the towel immediately in cold water (never use hot water, as it will set the protein stains into the fabric), and let it soak before washing as usual.
Bonus Tip: Reviving Bright Whites
If your white towels are looking a little dull, there’s a simple trick to bring them back to life. Add a generous amount of lemon juice to boiling water and let your towel soak for about an hour. Alternatively, apply white vinegar or lemon juice directly to the stain, gently scrub with a soft brush, and let it sit for 15 minutes before washing. This natural method helps restore your towels’ brightness without harsh chemicals. To keep your white towels as bright as possible, always wash them separately from coloured or dark towels. Mixing colours in the wash can cause fibres or dye from other items to transfer onto your white towels, leaving them low.
